Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande Receives 9-Day Prison Sentence

The man who breached security and grabbed Ariana Grande during the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore has now been sentenced to nine days in prison.

Australian citizen Johnson Wen, 26, appeared in a Singaporean court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to public nuisance after attempting to intrude on the premiere twice. The second attempt resulted in his widely circulated altercation with Grande on the red carpet. He was restrained by security, arrested the following day, and charged shortly afterward.

Court findings also confirmed Wen has a history of storming public events involving major artists. He previously rushed stages at concerts by Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers, and maintains an online presence under the name “Troll Most Hated.”

While Grande has not commented on the outcome, her fans have expressed renewed concern given her previous trauma stemming from the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. Earlier this year, she spoke candidly about ongoing PTSD and her long-term recovery in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.

Authorities have not indicated additional consequences beyond Wen’s nine-day sentence, but the case has reignited discussion around security protocols at global promotional events.
