Britney Spears has sold the rights to her entire music catalog to independent music publisher Primary Wave, marking one of the most consequential commercial moves of her career. The transaction, signed on December 30, 2025, was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by multiple major outlets, including Reuters and Rolling Stone.

While financial terms have not been officially disclosed, industry sources place the deal in the same ballpark as Justin Bieber’s widely reported $200 million catalog sale in 2023.

Spears’ catalog includes some of the most iconic pop recordings of the past three decades, from “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops!…I Did It Again” to “Toxic” and “Gimme More.” The deal transfers Spears’ ownership share of these songs’ rights to Primary Wave, a company known for handling catalogs of legendary artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, and Stevie Nicks.

Selling one’s music rights means an artist generally gives up future income streams tied to royalties from streaming, licensing, or radio play in exchange for an upfront payment. Spears can still perform these songs and benefit from touring and other revenue streams, but the ongoing earnings generated by ownership now flow to Primary Wave.

The move caps a new chapter in Spears’ career and follows the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021. Though she has not released a studio album since 2016’s Glory, the catalog remains one of the most influential and commercially enduring in modern pop.

For Primary Wave, the acquisition bolsters its growing portfolio of heritage catalogs at a time when legacy recordings continue to be valuable assets in film, television, and advertising licensing. The long-term commercial potential of Spears’ music remains robust, even as the singer steps further into life beyond the spotlight.
