It was always going to be on her terms. And Taylor Swift's terms, it seems, involve closing down Midtown Manhattan.
With just over a week to go, the most anticipated wedding in recent pop culture history is finally coming into focus, and the details are exactly as great as you'd expect.
According to The New York Times, Swift has rented Madison Square Garden for the July 2–4 weekend. A permit filed with New York City's Street Activity Permit Office requests the closure of all streets around the venue from July 2 through midday July 4, with a city official briefed on the preparations telling the paper the event is a wedding. Sources at MSG confirmed to NBC News that the venue has blocked off the full three-day window and is actively preparing for a major event.
The plan, as reported: an intimate gathering of around 100 guests on July 2, followed by the main celebration on July 3 with between 1,000 and 1,200 attendees. Multiple Kansas City Chiefs players have already booked rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Amtrak police officers have reportedly been briefed to expect the event. Chiefs coach Andy Reid, when asked directly whether he'd be attending, said simply: "I can't talk about it."
@metroentertainment Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's rumoured wedding plans just got even bigger. According to reports, a series of permits, hotel bookings and venue clues have fuelled speculation that the couple could be hosting a huge wedding celebration at New York's Madison Square Garden over the July 4 weekend. Sources cited by multiple outlets claim the event could welcome hundreds of guests, with preparations reportedly significant enough to require street closures around the iconic arena. Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the plans, but the rumours have already sent fans into meltdown online. If true, it would be one of the most high-profile celebrity weddings in recent memory, and perhaps the only one big enough to take over Madison Square Garden. #taylorswifttok #taylorswift #swifties #traviskelce ♬ style - j
Then there's New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who arguably did the least subtle non-confirmation in history at a press conference this week. Listing major events hitting the city simultaneously, he said: "We know it coincides with the Knicks' Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift's wedding, all happening at the same time. We are so excited to welcome the world here." When a reporter asked if he was invited, he replied: "No. I wish them a lovely wedding. I'll listen to 'Only the Young' at home on my own."
Swift and Kelce, who announced their engagement on Instagram in August 2025, have kept every meaningful detail locked down. Every guest who RSVPed has reportedly signed an NDA. Neither has said a word publicly. But between the permits, the hotel bookings, the police briefings, and a mayor who couldn't stop himself, the picture is about as clear as it's going to get before July 3.
What sources are painting: a traditional ceremony, with Swift's father walking her down the aisle. Ed Sheeran is widely expected to perform. The reported guest list includes Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone, the Haim sisters, Zoë Kravitz, and Patrick Mahomes. Up to 1,200 people total, the equivalent of a sold-out arena show. Which, fittingly, is exactly where it's all going down.
Taylor Swift has sold out Madison Square Garden more times than most artists dream of. On July 3, if everything points where it seems to, she'll fill it one more time, just for the people she actually loves.
